CoverMe Rigid Case with Holding Ring

Description

The CoverMe Rigid Case with Ring is an accessory solution dedicated to foldable format smartphones. It is aimed at telephony resellers, repair workshops, and accessory shops looking to complement a device sale or a repair output with a product of high perceived value and comfortable margin. Its design meets the two constraints specific to the clamshell format: preserving freedom of the hinge and securing the grip of a device that has become very narrow once unfolded.

The case is injected into rigid polycarbonate (PC), a material chosen for its resistance to structural impacts and scratch resistance. Its structure in two distinct elements separately protects the upper and lower parts of the chassis, leaving the central hinge to maneuver without mechanical constraint and without stress points on the fold. The finish is mass-dyed, which rules out any risk of yellowing linked to ultraviolet exposure.

The differentiating element is the metal holding ring (D-Ring) fixed to the dorsal part, mounted on a reinforced anchor strap. The user engages a finger in it to hold the device with one hand without a pinching effort, which significantly reduces the risk of dropping when used standing up or on the move. The ring also serves as an attachment point for a carabiner, a lanyard, or a neck strap, a direct selling point for field professions and mobile users.

The moulding follows the dimensions of the chassis for clearance-free clipping. The cutouts leave unobstructed access to the side fingerprint reader, volume buttons, speakers, and the USB-C charging port. The contour of the external screen and the photo block is raised to avoid direct contact with flat surfaces when the device is placed on its back.

Packaging & marketing approach

Distributed under the CoverMe brand, this case is offered in bulk packaging, meaning without individual packaging. This logistical choice helps reduce costs, optimise warehouse space, and limit environmental impact.

For points of sale wishing to enhance their offering on display, individual CoverMe packaging is available as an option. This hybrid approach, between operational efficiency and neat presentation, makes it easily possible to adapt distribution according to the needs of the channel (e-commerce, physical shop, B2B corner, etc.).

Workshop advice

Before counter installation, clean the contours of the chassis with a microfibre cloth: dust trapped between the frame and the rigid case creates a micro-scratch on the aluminium, often discovered at the next disassembly and attributed to the workshop. Clipping is done in two stages, upper part first by aligning the external screen and the photo block, then lower part via the bottom of the chassis.

Effective counter demonstration argument: have the customer test the ring on their own unfolded device, the difference in one-handed hold is perceived immediately and triggers the sale more surely than a product pitch.

Specify to the end customer that the ring is a holding and carrying system, not a suspension point: the anchor strap is not dimensioned for violent pulls or to support the device in prolonged swinging.
